Do Not Lose Your Way

In this constantly moving online world, it is easy to think about jumping into a market and dominating the serps (I do already on 5-10 extremely generic high traffic keywords), thinking you are gong to simply clean up with all the competition, sit back and take your piece of the pie.
Most people will then go out there, build a website called example.com, add a few pages, throw some links at the site and then shove a bit of adsense on there, get to position 1 in Google and sit back and watch the $’s come in and think that was easy, rinse and repeat for another site. This is a crap way to go out there and earn your living, as you are not learning as you go, simply using the same technique over and over and over again till you hit the magic figure…..
But it works…..
Yes it works now, lets say you take the initial site I mentioned above, you have left it and made $500 from it over 6 months, and been out an built example1.com through to example100.com all based on exactly the same techniques. you are feeling pretty good having rinsed and repeated and made $50,000 and are sitting on the beach watching life go by.. Your lifestyle is based uon these sites and then someone like me comes along and takes the number 1 spot for 70% of your network. Instantly your traffic drops off and you find your credit card gets rejected for that bottle of champagne… you wonder whats going on, but are still making an ok living and so cut back.. . then the big G spots those spammy links and drops your sites like a hooker drops to her knees…
You are now in oblivion.
They say everyone is only two paychecks away from desperation, well you now have to react quickly or you will suffer!
The Learner Online Earner Way!
Whilst the above story is based purely out of a quick thought, and in no way a reality for 99% of internet marketers, as you are learning the temptation is there to be in this position. Now it is time to learn the lesson this post is trying to give you.
Never ever rely solely one one technique to earn you money, instead push the boundaries with what you do, try thing out and realise it is your destiny in your hands. You may notice this website is updates 2-3 times a month, (I always try for at least once a week, but other projects stop this), this is because I operate in excess of 100 live websites earning me a moderate living through the services they offer.
This is an example of me being proactive in ensuring that losing one single income stream will not leave me in powerty. Make sure you operate in multiple niches to minimise risks to your livelyhood.
Well, I agree with you here. Making money by a single technique means putting all your eggs in a single basket. If the technique fails, you don’t have any backup. You stop learning, you stop your growth and become complacent. Learn and implement new techniques so that you have sufficient practice for emergencies. You can also teach these techniques to newbies which in itself is a way to make money.
